Subject: Math 20C Grades

Dear Math 20C Lecture C Students,

Final exam scores and course letter grades are now posted to Ted. No adjustments were made (or will be made)
to the letter grade scale given on the syllabus due to the exceptional overall performance of the class. If
you would like to see your exam, you will need to make an appointment with your TA. (Appointments may not be
possible until next quarter.)

Thanks for a great quarter everyone!

Sincerely,
Ol' Doc Bowers

Subject: Math 20C CAPE Response Rate Over 70%

Dear class,

Good news everyone! The CAPE response rate is over 70%! That means we will drop the lowest textbook
homework score.

There are 8 textbook homework assignments, each one worth 10 points. Since we are dropping one assignment,
that means the maximum textbook homework score is 70 points. You will find your total textbook homework
score (out of 70 points) posted in Ted.

The score posted in Ted already has the lowest homework score dropped.

Sincerely,
Ol' Doc Bowers

10 points towards your online homework score.

The CAPE response rate is almost at 70%. If you can reach 70%, we will drop the lowest textbook homework
score. Monday at 8:00 am is the deadline. We only need a few more responses! Current response rate:

Monday morning at 5:00 am.

Subject: Math 20C Fall 2014
Date: October 2, 2014 2:56:30 PM PDT

Dear Students,

You are receiving this email message because you are enrolled in Math 20C Lecture C (with me as your instructor)
this Fall Quarter.

*Math 20C Course Website*
Everything you ever wanted to know about the course (including the course calendar and syllabus) can be found on
the course website: http://www.math.ucsd.edu/~abowers/20c/index.html

*Textbook*
The required textbook for the course is Vector Calculus (6th Edition), by Marsden and Tromba; published by W.H.
Freeman and Company (2012). This is the same book that is used in Math 20E at UCSD. (Please note, however, that
we are the only Math 20C lecture that is using this textbook this quarter. The other lectures are using
Calculus: Early Transcendentals (2nd Edition), by Jon Rogawski. This is the same book used in Math 20A and Math
20B. If you prefer to use the Rogawski book instead of the one by Marsden and Tromba, please switch to one of
the other lectures.)

NOTE: The bookstore has a special discount price for the textbook bundled together with the student study guide.
(I am told this is cheaper than buying the book separately elsewhere.)

*Online Homework*
This quarter we will be using an online homework system called WebWork. This service is provided free to students.
Instructions for logging into the online homework system can be found on the class WebWork page here:
http://www.math.ucsd.edu/~abowers/20c/webwork.html

*Piazza*
This quarter we will be using Piazza for all of our class discussion. You can post questions to classmates, TAs,
and instructors. You can find our class page at: https://piazza.com/ucsd/fall2014/math20cc00/home

I hope everyone will have an enjoyable Fall Quarter.

Sincerely,
Adam Bowers
