Math 103b Spring 2014


The final exam will be Friday June 13, 11:30am-2:30pm in our usual classroom. It covers Chap. 12-18 and Chap. 23. You don't need to bring a blue book, as space on the exam will be provided for your answers. It will be roughly the length of two midterms.

Calendar

This is a second course in abstract algebras, covering the theory of rings and fields, and applications. We will cover Chapters 11-18 of Gallian's book, together with selected topics from Chapters 19-23 and Chapter 31. On the calendar below we list which sections of the text we expect to cover when, but this is only an approximation. The calendar will be adjusted as we go. Links to the homework assignments will also be in the calendar below. Homework is due on Fridays in the homework box in the basement of AP&M by 2pm.
