Online Homework

Online homework will be done using WebAssign.  (Login: https://www.webassign.net/login.html)
Your username is the part of your UCSD email before the @ symbol.
Your institution is "ucsd" (lowercase letters).

If you were enrolled (or on a waitlist) as of September 22 at 10:00 AM, then you were automatically added to the WebAssign class list. You should have received an email at your UCSD email address with login instructions. Make sure to check your spam folder. If you cannot find the email, try resetting your password.

If you enrolled/waitlisted after September 22 at 10:00 AM, then you need to self-enroll in WebAssign using the Class Key: ucsd 1042 0270. Follow the instructions for self-enrollment here.
NOTE: The instructor is listed as Adam Bowers because Prof. Bowers is the Math 20A Course Coordinator. The same WebAssign is used by all Math 20A instructors: Edward Dewey, Adam Bowers, David Quarfoot, Ko Um.

Syllabus Quiz: The Syllabus Quiz can be found in WebAssign. It has 10 question, each one multiple choice or True/False. You have one attempt per question. The quiz is "open syllabus," so you may have the syllabus open when you take the quiz. The Syllabus Quiz is due on the Friday of Week 2 and will be counted towards your homework grade.

Late Submissions: It is possible to request an automatic extension of the due date (of 7 days); however, there are penalties for late submissions. Late submissions earn a maximum of 50% of their total score. This penalty applies only to exercises submitted after the due date and not to those already submitted before the due date.

Note:  Homework may not be submitted after the day of the Final Exam.

Textbook Homework

These assignments will not be turned in and will be not graded; however, certain exam questions are based on textbook homework problems, so understanding the solutions to these problems should help you perform better on the exams.
(Also, if you seek help from the instructor or TAs, they may do these problems instead of the online problems.)

This list is subject to revision during the term. Please check regularly for updates. (Last updated 02 Aug 2016)
