Gone Fishing Conference, 2018 (La Jolla, CA, USA)

A meeting on Poisson Geometry. This year the special theme is Integrable systems, mechanics, and symplectic geometry.

Organizing Committee: Sean Curry, Melvin Leok, Alvaro Pelayo (University of California San Diego)

Gone Fishing Series Scientific Committtee: Sam Evens (Notre Dame), Michael Gekhtman (Notre Dame), Markus Pflaum (CU Boulder) and Alan Weinstein (UC Berkeley).

Date: Thursday March 29 to Sunday April 1, 2018.

Place: UC San Diego Mathematics Department APM Building Room 6402 (Sixth Floor of APM Building). UC San Diego Campus Map

Application for Participation: To apply, please complete this form. The conference has limited space, participation and funding decisions will be made before the end of February. Please apply even if you are not requesting funding. The deadline to apply is February 15, 2018. Graduate students should ask a faculty member to write a brief recommendation letter for them and send it to Lisa Driver via email at L.Driver@nd.edu. Other applicants should send a copy of their CV to Lisa.

Accommodation: A block of 20 rooms has been reserved at the Best Western Del Mar (use this link by March 15 to book a room at the UCSD rate). A free shuttle service to UCSD will also be provided.
All speakers and participants must make their reservations directly. For other options see UC San Diego Hotel Information

Events Specialist (questions about Hotel reservations): Ms. Leslie Foley, lafoley@ucsd.edu (Office APM 7355)

NSF Support: We have NSF support to cover or partially cover the travel and local expenses of some participants at the Gone Fishing meeting. Priority is given to graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, and those with no other travel funds available. You can request support when you complete the application form provided above. The deadline to request funding is February 15, 2018.

Conference Outline: The goal of the meeting is to bring together leading mathematicians with expertise in Poisson and symplectic geometry, and integrable systems, as well as to provide a forum for the exchange of ideas with advanced graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and junior faculty.

This is the seventh meeting of the annual Gone Fishing event in North America. A list of past events can be found here.
