Course Description

This course will be about using convex techniques to solve nonconvex
problems, to the cutting-edge research advances and applications. To be
precisely, it will cover recently developed new techniques in polynomial
optimization, convex algebraic geometry, moment and tensor
computations, sparse/low rank optimization. The background on linear conic
optimization, like semidefinite programming, is preferable for the class.

The instructor will provide lecture notes for the class.
Homework Assignments

Homework will be assigned and collected in class.
Please write your names, ID nubmers, and section numbers on your homework,
and staple together your homework pages.

There will be no written exams in this class.

The final course grade will be based on the performance
of completing homework assignments.
