Course Description: Integral calculus of one variable and its applications, with exponential, logarithmic, hyperbolic, and trigonometric functions. Methods of integration. Infinite series. Polar coordinates in the plane and complex exponentials. (Two units of credits given if taken after Math 1B/10B or Math 1C/10C.)
Prerequisites: AP Calculus AB score of 4 or 5, or AP Calculus BC score of 3, or Math 20A with a grade of C- or better, or Math 10B with a grade of C- or better, or Math 10C with a grade of C- or better.
Textbooks: Calculus: Early Transcendentals by Jon Rogawski and Colin Adams, fourth edition, and Math 20B Supplement. You must purchase an access code for WebAssign, by either purchasing a new textbook through the UCSD Bookstore (which should come with a WebAssign access code), or buying only electronic access from the WebAssign website. Please contact WebAssign Student Support if you are experiencing any issues with WebAssign.
Homework: Online homework will be due roughly every Thursday. The homework is given through WebAssign, which you must access through Canvas (so you do not need a Class Key). When you access WebAssign for the first time, you'll need to create a Cengage account or log in to an existing account. You have a grace period of 14 days before you need to enter a WebAssign access code.
See the table below for the homework due dates. Please note that most homework assignments are divided into several parts (according to section), so make sure that you complete the entire homework assignment. You are allowed 100 attempts to correctly answer the problems except for multiple choice problems, which only allow 1 attempt per problem. If you need a homework extension, you can request an automatic extension of 3 days within 3 days of the deadline through WebAssign, but any problems completed after the original deadline will earn a maximum of 50% of the total score for those problems. The number of points in each homework assignment varies, but there are 304 points possible in total. Instead of dropping a homework assignment, the maximum homework score will be 287 points. Any total score of 287 points or higher will earn a homework grade of 100%. There are also textbook homework problems that we expect you to complete, but these will not be collected or graded. See the table below for the textbook problems.

Quiz and Final Exam Policies: All quizzes and the final exam will be submitted through Gradescope. Here is a video showing how to submit your work, and you can read detailed instructions here. The quiz/exam periods were scheduled to be slightly longer than the actual time necessary to complete the work. The extended time is meant to act as a buffer in case you have any technical issues uploading your work. Work will be graded for both clarity and correctness. You may use your notes and the textbook. No other form of assistance is allowed (e.g. calculators, internet resources, software, other people, etc.) Any proof of academic dishonesty will be reported. No make-up quizzes/exams will be given. However, the lowest quiz score will be dropped. If you cannot take the quizzes or final exam at the scheduled time because of a difference in time zone, fill out the form here by October 14th. Requests made after this date will be denied.

Grading: Final grades will be calculated using the following grading scheme and grade cutoffs:

20% Homework, 60% Quizzes (the best 4 quiz scores will each count towards 15% of the final grade), 20% Final Exam
