Option 1: 20% homework + 20% midterm I + 20% midterm 2 + 40% Final
Option 2: 20% homework + 20% better of the two midterms + 60% Final

Homework assignments Homework is to be turned
in on Wednesdays by 5pm (unless noted otherwise). We have a dropbox
in the basement of APM. Even though homework counts for comparatively
little for the overall grade, it is extremely important that you do,
or, at least, seriously try to do them. Most of the exam problems will
be similar to homework or practice exam problems.

Hints: For 16, you can use that if 3 divides b^2, then it also divides b.
In 17(c) it should read: if b^2 < c (not r).

Final The final will be cumulative. You will be allowed one cheat sheet, but no books or calculators. The material will cover the first four chapters of the book. However, it is unlikely that you will see any question from chapter 4.5 beyond, possibly, a true/false question. Also, if you can do the one review problem taken from Section 4.4. given below, you should be fine regarding that section.
For preparation, look at the problems of both midterms, in particular
at the ones ypi did not do so well. The same applies to homework problems
and problems we did in class. You can do more preparation by looking
at problems in your book similar to homework problems.
