HOMEWORK & GRADING FAQs:
                    Section and Homework
Q:
What if I have to miss my section someday?
A: Either have a friend hand in your homework or make arrangements with your TA to hand it in at another time.
Q: What if I miss a homework assignment?
A: You get no credit for it.
Q: I think a homework problem was graded unfairly, what should I do?
A: You can take it to your TA, but it's probably not worth the effort since individual problems are worth relatively little.

How Grades are Determined (Percentages are Listed Above)
Q:
I did poorly on the ____ "hour" exam, but I did well on everything else. Does this mess up my grade?
A: Probably not.  When I assign course grades, I try to take into account the fact that someone may have had a bad day on ONE of the two "hour" exams.
Q: I did well on my exams but had trouble with homework because it takes me time to learn the material.
A: If you did the homework, but did much poorer on it than on the exams, I'll make allowances.
Q: I did well on my exams, but never bothered to do any homework. Does this mess up my grade?
A: Only in borderline cases.
Q: I know how to do this type of problem, I just {misread it}/{made an algebra error}/{forgot how to integrate}/{et cetera} shouldn't I get more credit?
A: The answer is too complicated, so look at this  ps  or  pdf  file.

The Exams (Times and Locations are Listed Above)
Q:
Do I need blue books for the exams?
A: Yes.
Q: Do I need to bring my ID to the exams?
A: Yes.  We may or may not check IDs.
Q: What topics are covered on exam ___?
A: This is not yet decided. When it is, it will appear with the homework listing.
Q: What can I bring to use on exam ___?
A: This is not yet decided. When it is, it will appear with the homework listing.
Q: How long is the final exam?
A: Roughly twice the length of an "hour" exam.
