COURSE DESCRIPTION

 
WHAT IS MATH 104A? This is the first undergraduate course in number theory. In this course we examine arithmetic and algebraic properties of integers and their generalizations.

TEXT
  LeVeque, W. J.  Fundamentals of Number Theory (DoverPublications Inc., 1996). You are expected to read the text BEFORE each lecture. The students enrolled in this class are expected to be familiar with the material covered in Math 109 (Mathematical Reasoning). Please read sections 1.1 and 1.5 on your own before or during the first week of classes.
