Lecture 22: The Mean Value Theorem

Video 1: The Mean Value Theorem and its Consequence

In this video, we talk about the Mean Value Theorem. Well, actually, we talk about consequences of the Mean Value Theorem. Basically, the Mean Value Theorem (MVT) tells you that the average rate of change of a continuous function over a closed interval must be obtained as an instantaneous rate of change at some point on the interval.

Video 2: Proving Inequalities

It turns out you can prove some interesting things with the MVT. In this video, we prove two neat inequalities that turn out to be more useful than you might think!
